Located approximately 50 kilometres, by the most direct route, from the City of Lviv the Monastery is quietly tucked away between a range of well vegetated hills. Its quiet surroundings and vast territory, beautiful Church and Chapel, and miraculous Icon and water spring make it the ideal place for a massive demonstration of faith.

This year’s pilgrimage included several hundred participants from Lviv who gathered at St. Michael’s Church, at 7 AM on the morning of Friday, May 14th. Following the Divine Liturgy, registration and official send-off they began their trek to Univ at 10 AM, exactly as planned. The 60 some kilometre walk, mostly off the main highway, took them through several small selos where others joined their numbers.

By the time the pilgrimage reached its Saturday afternoon dinner stop in the small Selo of Korosno, some 10 kilometres away from their destination, it was over 1300 strong. Walking four or five abreast, they stretched out over half a kilometre and took upwards of 20 minutes to fully assemble in the Selo schoolyard where lunch had been set up for them. This lunch, which was provided free of charge and without any fanfare was, in itself worthy of note. Set up on tables stretching over the entire periphery of the schoolyard, the lunch consisted of everything that the average farmyard produces, and then some. Boiled eggs, still in their shells, were stacked up by the hundreds of dozens; several over-sized pots of borscht sat simmering under the sun; gallons of freshly fetched farm style milk were neatly preserved in plastic pop bottles; bushels of bread, of all styles and forms, filled the air with freshly baked fragrances; and, sweet juices (compotes) and desserts stood in promise of replenishing the energy of the pilgrims. Reflecting on this scene, where throngs of faithful had converged on a small Selo seeking relief from hunger and rest from the road, one could not help but recall the incidents in the bible where Jesus, Himself, fed crowds of followers under much the same conditions. The generosity of the people of this Selo, who took nothing home but rather put the leftovers in the backpacks of the pilgrims, and the sincerity and simplicity with which they tended to the needs of others was, at once, overwhelming and humbling. The Christian example that they gave to all of us, the majority of which were and will remain total strangers to them, will forever remain engrained in our memories.

The lunch, and the break that came with it, lasted less than an hour when the call came to hit the road once again. After cleaning up after themselves the pilgrims headed down the road to the Selo’s church where they were officially greeted and advised that they were standing on the very ground that Blessed Emilian Kovch once walked when he was Pastor of that Parish.

The resulting spiritual surge was made all the greater when some of the elders, who had been baptized by Blessed Kovch, gave guided tours of the Church complete with more stories than there was time for.

Цьогорічна проща розпочалася у п'ятницю 14 травня о 7 годині ранку урочистою Божественною Літургією в церкві св. Архистратига Михаїла, у якій брали участь сотні прочан. Опісля на церквоному подвір'ї відбулася реєстрація та розподіл по групах молодих паломників. Колона прочан вирушила у молитовний похід о 10 годині, як і було заплановано. Довжина пішого шляху становила 60 кілометрів, здебільшого узбіччям автостради та пролягла через декілька сіл, проходячи якими кількість паломників зростала.

У суботу прочани зупинились пообідати у невеличкому селі Коросно, розташованому за 10 км від чудотворного місця. Громада учасників нараховувала більш як 1300 осіб та розтягнулась на півтора-два кілометри. Отож, щоб зібратись усім на шкільному подвір'ї, де було влаштовано благодійний обід, забрало більш як 20 хв. По усій території було встановлено столи, повні наїдків та напитків: сотні десяток варених яєць, кілька величезних посудин гарячого українського борщу, свіже молоко, розлите у пластикові пляшки, духмяний домашній хліб, компоти, солодке - усе запрошувало відновити сили та енергію. Спостерігаючи за прочанами, котрі вгамували спрагу, голод, перепочили, на думку мимоволі спадало біблійне оповідання, коли сам Христос Господь нагодував сотні у подібних обставинах. Щедрість, щирість та простота мешканців села Коросно западала в серце, що піклуючись про подорожніх, запаковували навіть залишки у їх наплечники. Вони подали усім нам християнський приклад, гідний наслідування, який закарбувався у нашій пам'яті назавжди.

Обід тривав менш години, а опісля, як все було прибрано, прочани попрямували до церкви, де на них очікувала громада вірних. Саме в цьому храмі, на цій землі душпастирював блаженний о. Еміліян Ковч. Деакі парафіяни, охрещені блаженним, поділились зворушуючими спогадами про священномученика, залишаючи неабиякий відбиток у душах молоді.

Здолавши ще три кілометри шляху, прочани наблизилися до міста Перемишляни, де їх з нетернінням чекали сотні вірних на чолі із Блаженнішим Любомиром кардиналом Гузарем. Подячний молебень було заплановано о 4 годині, і тільки-но стрілки годинника добігли згаданого часу, колона прочан із стягами повернула на церковне подвір'я. Добре озвучення, завдяки встановленим гучномовцям, дало змогу всім брати активну участь у богослужінні. Була чудова сонячна дниня, коли-не-коли повівав теплий весняний вітерець - прекрасна погода для подорожуючих.

Three kilometres away, in the Town of Peremyshlyany, hundreds of parishioners from the local Church along with His Beatitude Lubomyr Husar were patiently awaiting the arrival of the pilgrims in time for the scheduled 4 PM Moleben. And, they were not to be disappointed, for just as the hour stoked the banner carrying leaders of the pack began to turn the corner leading unto the church grounds. It was a beautiful sun-filled afternoon, complete with a slight breeze, that made it just right for walking; and even nicer for plopping oneself on the luscious green grass that surrounded the big, new Church. Thanks to the sound equipped churchyard everyone was able to participate in the services regardless of their vantage point.

Останні шість кілометрів пролягли ланами, посеред квітучого довкілля, повного життя і свіжості. О сьомій годині вечора, втомлені, але щасливі паломники наблизилися до стін монастиря. По вечірні прочани спорудили совї намети, підкріпилися свіжоспеченим хлібом і чаєм та розташувалися на заслужений відпочинок, готуючись до нічних чувань, що чекали їх попереду. Проща закінчилась урочистою архієрейською Божественною Літургією, яку очолив глава УГКЦ Блаженніший Любомир кардинал Гузар у співслужінні з духовенством у неділю вранці. По завершенні на втомлених, проте радісних та духовно умиротворених прочан чекали автобуси, аби доставити їх до рідних домівок. Це була чудова триденна проща, час духовного очищення, відновлення у вірі, молитви серця на честь і прославу Пресвятої Богородиці. Нехай буде возвеличена і прославлена Цариця Набесна!
