FRIDAY, JANUARY 10

·        Arrive at Edmonton Airport after various flight delays – 11:30 p.m. Air Canada Flight 8469

·        Overnight in Edmonton (L. Gabruch, B. Garchinski)

SATURDAY, JANUARY 11

·        Travel to Saskatoon – arrive at 4:45 p.m.

·        Pick-up location – Denny’s Restaurant on Ave. C and 42nd Street

·        Malanka – Ukr. New Year’s Eve –  5:30 – 12:30 p.m. (approximately)

All Saint’s Parish  – Prairieland

      (Exhibition) or St. George’s  Parish –

      Ave. M. & 20th St. – Tickets provided 

      for Ukraine students at no cost!

SUNDAY, JANUARY 12

·        Church with host families

·        Carolling activities or other planned activity

 

·        Supper – 4:00 p.m. (Gabrush Residence – 1112 Crerar Drive)

·        Enchanted Forest Tour

·        Return to Gabrush Residence – Birthday Cake for Inna

MONDAY, JANUARY 13

·        8:30 a.m. E. D. Feehan – Tour of School, introductions, etc.

·        All exchange students visit classes at E. D. Feehan for the full day. Holy Cross partners need to be paired with students at Feehan for the day

·        Lunch – your own arrangements

·        Supper with host families

·        Evening activity – open

 

TUESDAY, JANUARY 14

·        8:30 a.m. –  Saskatoon students host exchange students at their respective schools all day (either at Holy Cross or E. D. Feehan)

 

·        Free evening

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 15

·        8:30 a.m. –Arrive at E. D. Feehan 

·        9:00 – 12:00 – ESL class for Exchange students

·        12:00 noon welcome lunch with school administration hosted by Principal Ben Garchinski (Home Economics Room) Group Photos (L. Gabruch)

·        1:30 – Court and Law Firm (Drivers: B. Diakiw; S. Baran)

·        3:30 – Meet partners at Feehan

·        Free evening

 

 

THURSDAY, JANUARY 16

Shortened Day @ Feehan

·        9:00 – 12:00 ESL Class

·        12:35 p.m.– Leave to Sheptytsky Institute (Drivers: B. Diakiw, S. Baran)

1:00 p.m.- Lunch – Donated by Sheptytsky Institute Board

2:00 – Walking Tour – U of S Campus 3:00 - Meeting with U of S President Peter MacKinnon

4:00 p.m. Ukrainian class at U of S

(M. Baran, E. Tarasoff, N. Baran, O. Prokopchuk)

·        Supper at Louis’, movie at Rainbow Cinemas, pick-up at 9:00 p.m.

FRIDAY, JANUARY 17

First Exam - Saskatoon students

·        9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. - Holy Family School – View Ukrainian Bilingual Program classes.

·        12:00 – Lunch - Catholic School Board Office (Drivers: L. Gabruch, B. Diakiw)

·        1:00 p.m. –  Wanuskewin and

Western Development Museum (Drivers: C. Fedusiak, Z. Gabrush)

·        7:30 p.m. -  Blades Game at Sask. Place

- 20 tickets donated by the Blades

       (Ticket Arrangements – S. Gabrush)

SATURDAY, JANUARY 18

Daytime activities – Family choice

 

·        5:00 p.m. Shchedriy Vechir – Liturgy and Water Blessing (St. George’s or All Saints); Parish Supper to follow.

·        “Girls sleepover” at C. Fedusiak home.

SUNDAY, JANUARY 19

Yordan/ Feast of Jordan/Theophany

 

·        2:00 – 6:00 p.m. Swimming at the Travelodge

 

·        Evening Activity – Open

Second Exam – Saskatoon students

·        8:30 a.m. – Meet at E. D. Feehan

·        Exchange Students – Trip to Hutterite Colony (Drivers: D. Johnston,  H. Diakiw)

·        Lunch arrangements – Own choice.

·        Afternoon of browsing/shopping at Midtown Plaza for all Ukraine students and their chaperones.

·        Supper – with families

·        9:30 – 10:15 a.m. – Legislature Tour 10:15 – 11:15 – Meeting with Speaker of the House, MLA Myron Kowalsky

11:30 a.m. – Lunch at the Legislature,

·        12:30 – 2:30 – RCMP Parade and Museum Tour

·        3:00 - IMAX movie “Lost Worlds”

·        4:00 – Royal Saskatchewan Museum

·        5:00 – 6:15 - Supper in Regina

·        8:00 – 11:30 a.m. – Potash Mine Tour

·        Lunch – Own arrangements

Car pool to Pike Lake (various drivers)

·        2:00 – 8:00 p.m. – Pike Lake Trip – Boy Scout Camp, Bird Feeding, Snow-mobiling, Weiner Roast

FRIDAY, JANUARY 24

Saskatoon students – Semester Break

·        10:00 – 12:00 - ESL class for exchange students

·        12:15 p.m. – Lunch - Touch of Ukraine Restaurant (22nd Street) with ESL instructor D. Gulas-Bomok

·        2:00 – 3:00 p.m. Back to E. D.Feehan Grade 12 Law Curriculum presentation by Randy Danyliw (Aden Bowman teacher).

·        4:15 – 5:30 –Curling at the Granite (Arrangements: D. Johnston)

·        6:00 p.m. – Late supper and activities at Johnston Home (3341 Dieppe St.)

·        Last minute items, shopping, packing…

 

·        On their request, Pan Andriy and Pani Natalia will spend the morning at the Saskatchewan Learning Office (Sturdy Stone Building) reviewing curricula and resource materials (N. Prokopchuk)

TUESDAY, JANUARY 28

·        7:00 a.m. Bus leaves from E. D. Feehan to Alberta. (L. Gabruch, all Saskatoon students except Marko and Ilia.  Z. Gabrush, C. Fedusiak, H. Diakiw, D. Johnston might also accompany the group)

·        Drumheller – 12:00 noon – Bagged lunch, Royal Tyrrell Museum Tour

·        Leave at about 2:00 p.m. – Travel to Calgary – Calgary Zoo tour or other activities

·        Overnight in Canmore at Rocky Mountain Ski Lodge

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 29

·        8:00 a.m. - Breakfast, then students may tour the townsite of Banff on their own.  Bus tour later to the Hotsprings, Banff Springs Hotel, photos in and around town.

·        4:00 p.m.- Travel to Lake Louise

·        5:00 p.m. – Supper @ International Hostel in Lake Louise.

·        Depart for Edmonton at 6:30 p.m.; arrive at approx. 10:00 p.m.

·        Overnight in Edmonton at Days Inn on 106th St. (Arrangements – S. Baran)

 

THURSDAY, JANUARY 30

·        9:15 a.m. – Depart for Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village

·        10:00 a.m. -  Guided Tour

·        11:30 a.m. -  Depart for Edmonton

·        12:45 – Lunch at West Edmonton Mall food court; shopping…

·        2:00 p.m. -  IMAX presentation (?) at Silver City Famous Players Theatre in the Mall

·        3:00 p.m – 5:00 p.m. -  More shopping, etc. till closing.

·        5:15 p.m. -  Board bus for supper location (TBA)

·        Evening Activity – Possibly LazerQuest

 

 

 

·        Back to hotel; pack belongings.

FRIDAY, JANUARY 31

·        7:30 a.m. Wake-up call, breakfast, check-out of hotel with all luggage by 8:15 a.m.

·        10:00 a.m. – CIUS (Canadian Institute of Ukrainian Studies), Austin O’Brien High School Ukrainian Bilingual Classes

·        12:30 – Lunch

·        1:30 p.m. – Depart to airport

·        2:00 p.m. – Hugs, tears, then check luggage and proceed to customs (allow about 1 hour to clear customs)

·        Departure 4:20 p.m. Air Canada #850
